Strata 3 evokes an elemental sense of earth, fire and metal. The solid copper plates are cut by hand and then the edges are torched. The centers of the plates are heated by the torch to achieve the red, orange and blue tints that resemble the heart of some metal tree. Green steel strips bisect the three plates forming a great geometric counterpoint. Strata 3 is finished in clear lacquer to protect the copper and provide a highly reflective surface. Strata 3 would look perfect in any home from Danish Modern to contemporary. It would look particularly stunning in a loft. Strata 3 is signed by the artist, Tim Hurst.
